Wedding trends can send you spiralling into a ‘Pinterest hole’ of despair when conjuring up ideas for your big day! The Tipis are such beautiful, natural structures with an extraordinary ability to house many styles, ranging from rustic-chic to full blown romance and glamour. It’s easy to get caught up with the same old decor and we’ve seen a LOT of glass jars, bunting, hessian table runners and log slices over the years. We love to inspire all things unique and alternative and felt it was time to inject some much-needed rejuvenation into these ‘traditional’ Tipi trends!
We absolutely adore getting creative when it comes to styling a theme for our Tipi showcases & shoots, and last Spring we plunged into the indulgent elegance that is ‘Boho Vintage’. Inspired by our love of Australian style and our obsession with how they embrace outdoor living, we opted for a sophisticated vibe; combining classic white with earthy tones, opulent colours, exquisite tablescapes and breath-taking floral designs.
Our ultimate aim was to create swoon-worthy style integrated with laid back feels of bohemian magic and our phenomenal team did a sterling job of bringing it all to life!
// COLOURS
Coral was a recent pantone colour but some are not a massive fan of the terracotta hue. We wanted to show how you can still give a gentle ‘nod’ to the colour of the year, without overwhelming your whole vision. With Boho vintage at the core, we selected a colour scheme of vintage white, emerald, peacock and rust… all combined with subtle accents of gold, copper and brass.
‘Rust’ was our twist on coral, infusing a much-needed splash of warmth to the overall look. Emerald is without a doubt, one of our favourite leading colours for any wedding, bringing depth to any colour palette and having the versatility to stand up to multiple colour combinations. Mixing textures of macramé and lace brought the whole scheme together, bringing true vintage glamour to the shoot.
// SPACES
Creating unique and inspiring spaces was also at the forefront of our styling as we embraced capturing the boho essence into multiple settings. For me, a truly show-stopping wedding involves maximising every nook and cranny of your available space. The regal charm of Hirst Priory, coupled with the rustic whimsy of the natural woodland and our stunning tents, makes for one seriously epic venue! We wanted to show how you can use your venue to its full potential, captivating your guests with alternative ‘zones’, all brought together seamlessly with an underlying theme.
// THE WOODS
The woodland was transformed into an enchanting oasis of mellow vibes with hanging dreamcatchers, dreamy vintage props and a HUGE macramé backdrop by Born Boho. Our single Tipi nestled in the woods created the perfect relaxed setting for any outdoor ceremony and maybe a chance to ‘snatch’ a secret alone moment together.
// OUTDOOR SETTINGS
Standing proud, our statement ‘naked Tipi’ certainly made for a ‘wow factor’ chill out zone or luxe lounge. Majestic by day and magical by night, we chose to fill with cosy, relaxed-style furnishings, colourful carpets and dressed the poles with oodles of lush greenery…simplicity at its best!
// FLORALS
Stepping inside the main Triple Tipi set up and you’re instantly blown away by the dramatic table settings with wild and whimsical floral displays by Campbells flowers. Keeping the florals loose with quirky styling was key to achieving this eccentric look, suiting free-spirited couples with an artistic flair. For the bouquet, we steered clear of the structured and stylised version of the minimalist bride. Instead, we opted for a natural mix of shapes and textures, keeping it simple but exploding with earthy originality.
// ALL IN THE DETAIL
One of the things we love about Australian weddings is the way they manage to combine luxurious details with rustic settings. It truly is boho done right, appearing effortlessly stylish but carefully considered. Think twinkling naked chandeliers, intricate table details, rich colours…all combined with an eclectic mix of vintage candle holders and brass vases…creating the ultimate in ‘wedding cool’.
Drawing influence from the natural beauty of the great outdoors for your wedding means you can’t really go wrong.
If this is your style and reflects how you love to live…our advice is to go for it!!
